Seattle Roadster Show Announces New Top Award for Street Machines!
Woodland, WA - The Seattle Roadster Show, the largest and most acknowledged specialty and custom car exposition in Washington, announces a new top award for the 2008 show season, named the Grand Touring "GT" Award(r).
Since the change in show management in late 2004, the new producers have been looking for ways to improve upon the already successful show and what better way to do that than with the creation of a new award category. In 2007, the producers created a stand-alone award for the Portland Rod & Custom Show aptly named the Rose City Award (Portland is known as the Rose City), which allows Hot Rods, Custom Cars and Street Machines to compete head to head. For the 2008 show season, the producers decided to narrow the field in Seattle and have created the Grand Touring "GT" Award, named and inspired by the cars that will compete in the class-the Street Machine. The winner of the GT Award will receive an all-new and unique trophy as well as a $5,000 award purse. The award category will also support individual class of awards, including engineering, paint, engine, interior, chassis and display.
"We wanted something special for the new class of pro-touring vehicles or as I call them 'Extreme Touring Vehicles' in Seattle and we feel that this award is it," said Jason Wilson, the show's producer. The class is open to 1949 to 1972 street machines with unlimited body and performance modifications. Wilson went on to say, "we believe that we are the first major indoor show to have a top award geared specifically toward high end street machines with a $5,000 payout. There are so many beautiful street machines that emulate the essence of this great hobby that we wanted to recognize them in the Emerald City of Seattle."
Since the announcement of this award, the Seattle Roadster Show has already seen entries from Canada and California ready to compete in this category, with the show still months away. "This is exactly what we were looking for," exclaimed Wilson, "Great cars in a great atmosphere in a great city...what more can you ask for?"
The Seattle Roadster Show is now in its 9th year of production and will be held February 29 through March 2, 2008 at the beautiful Qwest Field Event Center, located in downtown Seattle. Log on to: www.hotrodshows.com for an entry form and exact criteria for the Grand Touring Award.
