Enthusiasts are rejoicing at the recent announcement that Chrysler will continue to build the Dodge Viper. Originally scheduled to cease production at the end of 2009, the iconic Viper will carry on being built at Chrysler Group's Conner Avenue Assembly Plant, where it's been built since 1995.

"The Dodge Viper has successfully captured the hearts and imagination of performance enthusiasts around the globe," said Mike Accavitti, President and CEO of Chrysler's Dodge brand.

"We're extremely proud that the ulti-

mate American-built sports car with its world-class performance will live on as the iconic image leader for the Dodge brand."

The automaker had been exploring a sale of the Viper's business assets so that the car would continue to exist, but not under Chrysler.

To date, over 25,000 V-10 powered Vipers have been built through several generations in both coupe and roadster body styles.

The limited-production model has a following of enthusiast owners and fans, and is currently powered by an 8.4 liter, 600 horsepower V-10 engine.
