Fontana is Open for Business Again!!

PSCA Shines at Auto Club Dragway / Fontana

FONTANA --
California is back from the dead. In an amazing turn about, by the good graces of the Auto Club of Southern California and many great companies that stepped up with cash and service, the drag strip on the Fontana Speedway property is open for racing again after nearly two years of being shut down by court order. It took the building of an immense 24 foot tall sound wall at the cost of over one million dollars, but as the Pacific Street Car Association's Mickey Thompson Tires "Spring Break Super Show" race showed,
Southern California has a quarter mile track once again.

The track was green on Friday for practice and rain overnight didn't help. But the Auto Club Dragway track crew put forth a heroic effort and by noon on Saturday the track had real t
eeth. Sportsman racers can't ask for more traction than the track offered for the rest of the weekend (and if they have to, they need to work on their setup). The car count was way up, the highest count of the year for a PSCA race so far. Vendors were on the midway and spectators were in the stands on a gorgeous SoCal spring day.

In the junior dragster's 8-12 year old class, Morgan Clinton of Chino Hills, CA took the win when runner-up Allyah Weems turned on the red light in the finals. In the 13+ age class, a red light again decided the winner, this it was Kayla Ableson who turned on the red bulb in the final as Kaitlyn Savolt of Diamond Bar, CA took home the trophy.

In Calvert Street Muscle, a first time PSCA winner, Nolin Brandt of Las Vegas, NV took the win running an 11.622 on his 11.60 dial while runner-up Doug Broaddus of Anaheim, CA broke out with a 9.429 on his 9.43 dial.
