Glacier Car Rally in the Rockies

The Glacier Rally in the Rockies weekend kids off just one month from today!  We are looking forward to another great show this year, and are trying to get as many of you pre-registered for this show as soon as possible.  I’m attaching the registration form for you and your friends.  Please forward to all your classic car loving friends and encourage them to participate.

As you know, the Glacier Rally in the Rockies is a joint venture with the Glacier Street Rod Association, our own local car club.  The GSRA partners with Flathead CARE on this show to help us raise funds for our youth drug prevention programming.  Flathead CARE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Flathead County kids remain drug and alcohol free.  We don’t receive any city, state or federal funding, so we must fundraise throughout the year to keep our programs going for our local youth.  Last year, we were able to raise approximately $4,000 for our youth programming, thanks to the Glacier Rally in the Rockies.  We have kept our show entry fee at just $40 for the past 3 years, and $20 of that is a donation to Flathead CARE.  The other $20 goes to GSRA to cover their expenses associated with the dinner, garage tour and poker run.

Please take a look at the attached entry form and consider entering our show again this year, and forward onto your friends.  We look forward to seeing you July 19 – 20, 2013!

The Glacier Rally in the Rockies event takes place in just one month, July 19-20, 2013, in downtown Kalispell.  Flathead CARE, in association with the Glacier Street Rod Association (GSRA), have combined efforts to hold a fabulous weekend of activities for classic car owners and admirers alike!

The weekend of events kicks off with a Garage Tour and Poker Run on Friday morning, July 19th, from 7 – 9 AM (beginning at RT’s Rod Shop, located at 747 Center Street West), a show and shine that afternoon at Kalispell’s Dairy Queen (located at 19 Highway 2 E.), from 6 – 8 PM, and will continue into the evening with an American Graffiti-style “Cruise the Drag” up and down Main Street, from 8 - 10 PM.  People are encouraged to line Main Street and cheer for the cars as they drag Main Street.

On Saturday, July 20, the parade begins at 10 am, and cars and motorcycles will then follow the normal parade route lining up on 8th Street West (at the FHS parking lot on 8th Street & 5th Avenue West) and continuing North on Main Street to Center Street.  Classic vehicles and motorcycles of all years, will then park on 1st Avenue West and in the bank parking lots, between Center Street and 3rd Street, for the car and motorcycle show & shine.  Food and drink concessions will be available in the alley behind Norm’s News.  There will be drawings, a walking poker run, prizes donated by area businesses, and other special activities for registered participants.  More than 25 awards will be given out to show participants.

All car and motorcycle parade and show events are both free to the public!  Concessions and vehicle registration proceeds will benefit Flathead CARE, a local youth drug, alcohol & tobacco prevention organization.

On Saturday evening, GSRA is holding a catered dinner on the lawn at Foys Lake starting at 6 PM, for vehicles at least 40 old.  Following the dinner will be results for the Friday poker run, American Graffiti Cruise awards, candle log burning, campfire, and lots of visiting. Tickets are available at the registration table at the Dairy Queen show and the Glacier Rally in the Rockies show.

Vehicle registration costs $40 per vehicle, and includes registration for the parade, show and shine and one awards dinner ticket.  Complete registration forms (including all events), the parade route and more information are available on the Flathead CARE Website:  www.flatheadcare.org, by clicking on the Glacier Rally in the Rockies link, or on the GSRA website: www.glacierstreetrodassoc.org  Lodging information is available at www.discoverkalispell.com.
