Oasis to hold Cruisin' show
August 27, 2009

The second annual Cruisin' for the Kids Car Show benefiting the Oasis Youth Center will be held 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on Center Street in downtown Grayslake.

The car show welcomes all makes and models and offers participants a custom designed T-shirt with every entry. Dash plaques will also be given to the first 50 registrants. Prizes will be awarded for the top cars in each class.

Registration can be made online at or by calling Mike Pruitt at (224) 321-4080.

Pre-registration is $20 or $25 at the event.

The event will include a silent auction with Cubs tickets, car care accessories and restaurant certificates. There will also be food and drinks, live music and games for the kids. Additionally, the Oasis will hold a fundraising car wash.

"There is definitely something for everyone to appreciate," said Kit Loudin, committee member. "Coupled with the family events we have, it makes a delightful day out for kids and parents alike."

The Oasis Youth Center, the brainchild of Grayslake insurance agent Joyce Campbell, is now in its second year of providing a safe yet fun meeting place for area youth. It features a game room, homework area, refreshment center and stage.

"Kids need a place where they can be noisy and interact with their peers in and safe and stimulating environment," said Campbell.
