USAC Silver Crown Series Returning to Memphis International Raceway

 

After a 10-year hiatus, the USAC Silver Crown Series is returning to the .75-mile tri-oval

 

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (May 23, 2014) - Memphis International Raceway (MIR) and United States Auto Club (USAC) will be reunited again after a 10-year hiatus away from racing action on the paved tri-oval. The Silver Crown Series will make their return to the .75-mile facility on Sunday, June 29 for a 100-lap shootout. The "Memphis 100 with Ricky Stenhouse Jr." will mark the fifth stop on the 2014 USAC Silver Crown Series schedule.

 

The USAC Silver Crown Series is described as one of the world's most competitive open-wheel racing series. Previous champions include Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ryan Newman, JJ Yeley, Mario Andretti, AJ Foyt and Al Unser Sr. Olive Branch, Miss. native and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., raced in the USAC ranks from 2004 - 2007 and was considered one of the best at just 19 years of age. He made his USAC debut at Memphis in 2004 and would go on to tally five wins, 10 top-five and 14 top-10 finishes in his career. The former MIR Rookie-of-the-Year, Stenhouse Jr., will return to his "hometown" track for the USAC race on June 29.

 

"We're excited to have the USAC Series back at Memphis International Raceway," stated Pam Kendrick, VP and GM of Memphis International Raceway. "We have a history with the series and they've always put on a great show at MIR. The fans really love seeing them at the track so this race will definitely be one of the highlights of the race season."

 

2013 USAC Silver Crown Series champion Bobby East as well as Tracy Hines, A.J. Fike, Kody Swanson and several others will be racing for the coveted win at MIR. The drivers will be on-hand prior to the start of the race from noon - 1:00 p.m. CT to sign autographs on the frontstretch for the fans and the green flag is scheduled to drop at 2:00 p.m. CT.

 

Purchase your tickets in advance on www.racemir.com for the "Memphis 100 with Ricky Stenhouse Jr." and receive $5 off of adult general admission and pit passes. Also, available for advance purchase is the family four-pack which includes admission for two adults, two children and a free hot dog and small beverage for each family member for $60. Tickets the day of the race are available at the gate and are $25 for adults, $40 for a pit pass and children 12 and under are $10.
