MDA Car Show Saturday in Smith River
Helping Jerry's Kids

SMITH RIVER, Calif.

Classic car owners can show their support for local families serviced by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) by entering their vehicles into the 11th annual MDA Benefit Car Show at Lucky 7 Casino.

Dayle Niemie and his youngest daughter Heather, both MDA clients from Brookings, have organized the event which is sponsored by  Lucky 7 Casino and coordinated by the Curry County Cruisers.

The car show is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5. The entry fee is $30 per car, with the proceeds benefitting MDA.

Anyone interested in entering a car or sponsoring the event should contact Niemie at 541-469-4363 or Tom Lee with Curry County Cruisers at 707-487-0611

All money raised at the car show will help fund local MDA programs and services, including support groups and equipment such as wheelchairs and leg braces. The proceeds will also support a clinic at Providence Medford Medical Center and help send Oregon children with muscle wasting diseases to MDA summer camp each year.

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education. The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors.
