Edwards, Martin hit the jackpot in Las Vegas
March 07, 2011 12:29 PM, EST
Carl Edwards and his No. 99 Ford wasn't the most dominant car in the Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway -- that honor belonged to Tony Stewart in his No. 14 Chevrolet. But when Stewart was assessed a pit road penalty, that opened the door for Edwards and he took advantage, winning for the second time at the 1.5-mile track and earning his third Cup victory in his past five starts.
There is definitely a process to becoming the best you can be at this level because all the guys are so savvy. I feel I am in a better position to get all the points we can and all the wins we can this year.
-- CARL EDWARDS
Edwards became the fourth driver to win multiple times at Las Vegas with his 19th career victory. Edwards sits third in points, seven points behind leaders Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch. Edwards has two top-fives this season (a second at Daytona and the victory and Vegas).
