Texas tuner working on turbocharged 2010 Camaro V6, wants to beat Nissan GT-R around Nurburgring
A Longview, Texas based tuner is working on a turbocharged version of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V6 and has dreams of beating the Nissan GT-R around the Nurburgring Nordschliefe. Instead of going the V8 route, East Texas Muscle Cars is building one-off turbocharged V6 Camaro to prove the program’s capabilities.
With the help of a forged crank, rods and pistons, the V6 will receive a modified Squires Turbo Systems remote-mount turbocharger kit - giving it the ability to produce around 500-hp. Other upgrades will include Baer big brake kit, Pedders coil-overs and bushings to address “the stock Camaro’s tremendous understeer and cradle walk.”
“This will not be a race-prepped car. Anyone can build a racecar to beat a street car,” said company spokesman Mike White. “We will have a full interior and be running 275/35 Bridgestone RE050 tires.”
Once completed, East Texas Muscle Cars plans to ship the car to Germany to run some hot laps on the Nurburgring where they “want to beat the GT-R’s lap time.” The car will debut at the 2009 SEMA Show later this year.
